To maintain the integrity of the selection process, nominations are reviewed anonymously. The identities of nominators are redacted from all documentation reviewed by the Director of International Programs at KIMT University. The committee is committed to ensuring that recipients reflect a diverse range of backgrounds, including gender, race, age, and ability, thereby promoting inclusivity within the university’s scholarly community.
Nominations for honorary degrees are accepted year-round by the Timeline Committee at KIMT University. Acceptance Criteria for Honorary Doctoral Degree at KIMT University
Eligibility 1:
To be considered for an honorary degree, a candidate must possess sufficient stature and recognition, ensuring that the conferral of the honorary degree enhances the reputation of KIMT University.
Eligibility 2:
The candidate must exemplify the fundamental principles and values upheld by KIMT University through their character and conduct.
Eligibility 3:
Candidates who have achieved eminence in their respective fields or have made distinguished contributions will be prioritized. The Honors Committee will focus on fields that align with KIMT University’s mission and core values.
Eligibility 4:
There should be a reasonable expectation that the candidate will accept the honorary degree and be available to attend the convocation organized by KIMT University, where they will deliver an inspiring address to graduates.
Exceptions
KIMT University will not normally award honorary degrees under the following circumstances:
- Posthumously: Honorary degrees will not be awarded after the death of a candidate, unless the offer has been made and accepted prior to their passing.
- In Absentia: Degrees will not be conferred to individuals who are not present at the ceremony.
- Active Politicians: Current holders of political office are ineligible for honorary degrees, with exceptions made only for specific high-ranking officials during their term.
- Financial Donors: Individuals whose only connection to KIMT University is through monetary donations will not be considered for honorary degrees.
- Current Faculty, Staff, or Students: Members of KIMT University’s faculty, staff, students, or Board of Governors are generally not eligible while actively serving. Consideration for honorary degrees can occur three years after their departure from these positions.
- Self-Nominations: Individuals may not nominate themselves or members of their own family for consideration.
Nomination Consideration
The Committee will consider the following criteria when reviewing each nomination:
- In what specific ways does the candidate’s achievement stand out as truly exceptional?
- How has the candidate made significant contributions to scholarship, society, and culture that are noteworthy?
- Will the candidate’s achievements be viewed as important and exemplary by the students graduating at the convocation?
- Has the candidate received recognition through other honors and awards that validate their contributions?
- Has the candidate been appropriately recognized within their field or profession for their excellence?
- Is it appropriate for KIMT University to honor this candidate at this particular time?
- Is the candidate familiar with KIMT University, and would they appreciate the significance of receiving this award?
- Does this candidate contribute to KIMT University’s goal of reflecting the diversity of international society or enhancing the academic diversity of the university in its honors?
Nomination Package for Registration
To ensure a complete nomination package for the Honorary Doctoral Degree at KIMT University, the following information must be included:
- Nomination Letter: Submitted by approved centers, detailing the candidate’s qualifications and achievements.
- Completed Application: A duly signed and completed application form.
- Academic Credentials: Copies of all diplomas, academic degrees, certificates, and credentials awarded or issued by accredited or recognized colleges and universities (if applicable).
- Previous Studies Documentation: Copies of all previous studies, including transcripts and diploma supplements (if applicable).

- Alumni Digital Identification Card (verifiable the University interface).
- Graduation Ceremony Attendance invitation (optional).
