Overview

The Bachelor of Aviation Management is a dedicated aviation qualification which will introduce you to various aspects of the aviation industry. If you have a passion for aviation, you enjoy working with other people and are interested in working towards a management role in a global business, then this degree is for you.

You will gain an understanding of the human factors in aviation, airline strategic management and airport operational management.

This degree is suitable if you are wanting to enter the aviation industry. If you already work in the industry, the qualification also provides a route to enhance your skills and knowledge to add further value to your career portfolio.

Course structure

A bachelor’s degree at KIMT is three years (180 credits) and consists of various learning activities:

First year

During the first year, you become familiar with the areas of management and other foundation courses. You predominantly develop your competences by taking 11 basic courses like- Business Mathematics, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Total Quality management, Inventory Management, Database Management Systems etc. courses

Second year

In the second year, you spend approximately a third of the academic year on engineering projects in one of the themes. 

You also take five courses linked to the aviation areas of expertise and five courses combined with aviation safety and security. Student will be trained with proper knowledge and resources so that they can contribute to the solutions for societal issues and to create business opportunities for the aviation industry.

Third year

The third year is all about strengthening your vision and identity and about demonstrating your competences in the Final Bachelor’s Project along with you get a solid foundation on your major. You will be taught aviation management core subjects like- Airline Strategic Management, Check and Training for Airlines, Airport Planning, Airport Operational Management, Design of Airways and Air Traffic Systems, Air Transport Economics, Air Accident and Incident Investigation etc. courses.

In this individual project you show that you are able to analyze and research a business case relevant to Industrial Engineering by formulating a clear research question. You collect and analyze data, define possible causes and explanations for the issue and provide recommendations for improvement.

You conduct your research at, or in collaboration with, a company or external organization and present your results in a presentation and in a report.

Assessment and verification

We assess both the theoretical and practical elements of the course. Assessment is through written assignments, a profile of evidence of teaching standards and observed teaching. All modules within this program are internally assessed by approved center and externally verified by KIMT University. To achieve a pass for a module, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgment that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor. The Assessor will provide an audit trail showing how the judgement of the learners’ overall achievement has been arrived at.

METHOD OF ASSESSMENT

Knowledge, understanding and intellectual skills are assessed through a combination of course assignments and presentations. The weighting for the final overall assessment for each course taken shall be as follows:

Programme modality

The program is studied 100% online through the virtual learning platform with tutor support.
