Overview
In the future, our lives will be shaped more and more by digital information and processes. Dealing with digital technologies and internet-based applications is becoming the central prerequisite for economic success, but also for social participation. The key technology and innovation driver of this change is Computer Science, recently spurred on by the growing use of Artificial Intelligence.
The BSc Computer Science degree, developed by the team at KIMT University is designed to give you a strong foundation in Computer Science and specialised knowledge of topics such as Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality and Web Development.
The BSc in computer science programme covers industry and academic case studies to help you apply studies in terms of real-world problems. You’ll develop and execute a series of projects throughout the programme to develop technical skills and hone problem solving abilities.
Course structure
A bachelor’s degree at KIMT is three years (180 credits) and consists of various learning activities:
- Projects – you choose the projects that fit your learning objectives.
- Computer science courses – the solid foundation you need as a computer science engineer.
- Basic courses – including analytics, mathematics, physical sciences and technical design.
- External learning activities – Industrial training/seminars, courses at other universities, or a foreign exchange program.
What You'll Study
The thesis project is an independent piece of research based on a topic related to a student’s
degree programme. Students are encouraged to focus on a problem confronting industry or a
related area. The individual project provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate how
the in-depth skills and knowledge they have gained during the taught courses can be used to
provide solutions to practical problems. The individual project should contain a degree of
original research.

First year
During the first year, you become familiar with the foundation areas of expertise that shape the field of computer science. You predominantly develop your competences: you take a set of 10 courses mixing up with basic and computer foundation courses.
Second year
In the second year, you spend approximately a third of the academic year on computer science concentration modules and computer science projects in one of the themes.
You also take five courses linked to the IT areas of expertise and five courses combined with computer science, programming and application.
Third year
The third year is all about strengthening your vision and identity and about demonstrating your competences in the Final Bachelor’s Project. Along with the project, students will gain knowledge in Numerical Methods, Database Systems, Computer Networks, Software Engineering, Computer Interfacing and Human Computer Interface etc. courses.
In this individual project you show that you are able to analyze and research a business case relevant to Industrial Engineering by formulating a clear research question. You collect and analyze data, define possible causes and explanations for the issue and provide recommendations for improvement.
You conduct your research at, or in collaboration with, a company or external organization and present your results in a presentation and in a report.
